One of the highlights of the film selections shown Friday night at the San Diego FANtastic Horror Film Festival was “Club Lingerie,” the story of Renae, a young woman who inherits a nightclub from her grandfather.  In order to revamp the once-famous nightclub, Renae employs lingerie models who attract the customers she needs, but also attract an unknown killer.  Crowd reaction was extremely favorable to the new film: “There was a lot of laughter – for a murder mystery,” quipped actor Geo Sargent (“Frederic”).

Actor Sargent and fellow cast member Jacqueline Guzman Cereceres (“Hattie”) spoke with me last night at the Festival.  Both agreed that making the film had been a very positive experience.  Actress Cereceres found that the pace of the show was extremely accelerated, the opportunity had arisen for everyone to be “very stressed out.  But, instead, the work ethic of the individuals” in both the cast and the crew took control and made the set both fun and productive.  Actor Sargent admitted that, as he was relatively new to the film business, he found the shoot to be a “learning experience, filled with different types of people.”  He gave Director Jared Masters credit for making the experience so positive.

But both reserved their top praise for Art Director Ryan Henneman.  Cereceres called him “a bright light,” while Sargent marveled that he was “a magician.” (Such praise was due in no small part, I’m sure, to the fact that he kept Cereceres from Certain Doom when she came close to being injured by a falling set piece during the film shoot.)
